Enniscorthy Guardian - - NEWS -

A WOMAN who stole all the ingredients for a romantic Valentine’s Day from a local shop said that she had ‘no recollection’ of the incident when she appeared before the district court last week.

Anne Mangan (53) of 62 Wafer Street, Enniscorthy, was charged with stealing Valentine’s Balloons valued at €1.50, Valentine’s napkins valued at €1.50, two boxes of Toffifee valued at €1.50 each and two boxes of Terry’s All Gold, also valued at €1.50 each, at Dealz in Market Square on February 12 of last year. She was also charged with failure to appear at Gorey District Court on December 7 last.

Mangan pleaded guilty to the charges and solicitor David Tarrant said that his client had ‘no recollection of the incident’ as she had ‘drink taken on the day’. He added, however, that she accepted the charge and wished to apologise for her actions.

Upon hearing all the evidence, Judge Cheatle agreed to give Mangan the benefit of the probation act in exchange for a €25 donation
