ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADES: There will be a wealth of parades around the county on Saturday to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Many of the parade start times have been changed this year to allow people watch the Six Nations match between Ireland and Scotland in the afternoon. The Wexford Parade is the first parade of the day kicking off at 10.45 a.m. Bunclody’s parade which is the 30th anniversar­y parade also starts at 10.45 a.m. and the theme of the parade is Happy Birthday to mark the occasion. The third parade of the day will be in Duncannon which starts on the beach at 12 noon. This is Ireland’s only beach parade and always attracts a large crowd. This will be followed by the parades in New Ross, Clonroche and Enniscorth­y which all start at 1 p.m. The parade in Fethard-On-Sea is at 1.45 p.m. while Carrig-On-Bannow’s parade will start at 2 p.m. The final parade of the day will be in Gorey which kicks off at the usual time of 3 p.m. On the day there will be a wealth of colour and diversity on show throughout the county with walking groups, floats, community groups and commercial businesses all taking to the streets to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

THE PAN-CELTIC CABARET: This latest offering from the Caca Milis crew will take place at Wexford Arts Centre on Friday, March 16 and will be an eclectic celebratio­n to mark St Patrick’s Day. The ever-popular event, which is the brainchild of Helena Mulkerns, has seen numerous artists, of all discipline­s, and at all stages of their careers, grace the Wexford stage. The first ‘preview’ Caca Milis cabaret was held in December 2008 and it was officially launched the following month. Since then, over 500 performers have taken part in its events in Wexford and around Ireland. The cabaret is a favourite of many great names but it is also dedicated to introducin­g new and emerging talent.

A NIGHT OF CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL: Holohans in Enniscorth­y is to host an evening of music from one of the most iconic rock bands of all time on Friday night as The Old Fogartys delve into the back catalogue of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Every iconic song performed on the night will have a different guest vocalist with backing music provided by the talented Edmund Crean, Richard King, Derrick King, Pat Murphy and Brendan Carthy. The fun will get underway from 7 p.m. and all funds raised on the night will go directly to Co Wexford Hospice Homecare. Donations will be accepted on the night and all are welcome to come along and rock out!

A NIGHT WITH THE STARS: Pre St Patrick’s special featuring six of Ireland’s favourite country stars in the one show is returning to the Talbot Hotel ,Wexford tonight ( Tuesday, March 13) for a super show not to be missed. Jimmy Buckley, Robert Mizzell , Trudi Lalor, John Hogan, TR Dallas and Shawn Cuddy are all set to showcase toe-tapping county classics in the company of the fabulous Keltic Storm band . Tickets for the show are now on sale from the Talbot Hotel reception on 053 912 2566.

CEILI HOUSE: RTE Radio 1 broadcasts an extended Céilí House show LIVE from the National Opera House, at 8 p.m. on St Patrick’s Day. The show, presented by Kieran Hanrahan, will feature singer, musician and TV presenter Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh accompanie­d by singer/multi-instrument­alist Gerry O’Beirne and former lead singer of Solas Niamh VarianBarr­y. Also performing is the fiddle-playing wizard that is Colm Mac Con Iomaire. Globe-trotting uilleann piper Mark Redmond will be there as well as legendary harmonica playing duo John and Pip Murphy. The show puts the spotlight on local traditiona­l singers and musicians including rising young stars the Gorey-based Cairde Cheoil Harp Ensemble. Tickets (€15 pp / €10 child) now on sale at the National Opera House.

NEW ROSS DRAMA FESTIVAL: Wicked comedy, great acting and intriguing drama will come alive on the stage of St Michael’s Theatre in New Ross during New Ross Drama Festival which runs from Wednesday, March

14, to Friday, March 23, (excluding St. Patrick’s weekend). There is a strong emphasis on comedy this year with Bridge Drama performing Cash on Delivery, along with Some Girls, Blithe Spirit and Rumours performed by festival stalwart groups, Ballycogle­y, Kilmuckrid­ge, Bunclody and the return of Thurles Drama Group to New Ross. The opening play is a one man show Danger Money, performed by The Knocks Drama Group from County Fermanagh. The box office is now open in St Michael’s Theatre for patrons to book their seat for the festival costing a reasonable €50 for the eight nights or €10 nightly. (Students pay half price).

YOGA FOR TODDLERS: Toddler Yoga with Liz Moffatt will take place on Tuesday, March 20, at 11 a.m., in Gorey Library. Yoga teacher Liz Moffatt of Dreaming Creative Space in Ballygarre­tt will facilitate a yoga session for toddlers. Collaborat­ing with Martina to integrate a Yoga session into Story Time, the emphasis of the session is on a playful journey for the child. Liz will use Yoga postures to support children’s natural energy, moving from very active to very quiet through the session. The session will end with quiet time when the children lie on the floor to relax. Liz qualified as a Yoga teacher in 1996 and has been teaching yoga to all age groups ever since.
