Monageer man is charged with assault after night out
A MONAGEER man appeared before the District Court last week charged with assault causing harm on a night out in Templeshannon. Eugene Breslin (37) of Ballydawmore, Monageer, was charged with assaulting Seamus Murphy causing him harm at Treacy’s Hotel.
In outlining the alleged facts of the case, Garda Raymond Moore said that gardaí responded to reports of an assault at 3.30 a.m. He said that at the scene, they met with Mr Murphy who said that he was the victim of an unprovoked attack. It is alleged that Breslin put his arm around Mr Murphy’s neck and pulled him to the floor and punched him in the face. Garda Moore said that the injured party suffered dizziness and pain and was left unable to fully recall the incident.
Judge Haughton accepted jurisdiction in the case and it was adjourned until June 6 to allow Breslin’s solicitor to be furnished with the evidence in the case.
