TWO Co Wexford families are looking forward to a new start in Oylegate as Minister of State of Housing and Urban Development, Damien English TD, arrived to open two specially adapted family homes at Cum An Tobair. The homes are specially designed and adapted to suit the needs of both the Dempsey-Dobbs-Boyle family and the Sheil family and were funded by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.

Minister English congratulated the new tenants and wished them all the very best for their future in Oylegate.

‘I mainly want to congratulate the new tenants,’ he said. ‘It is the real pleasure of this job that, as well as dealing with plenty of challenges and problems, I also get to come to an event like this one and to meet people whose lives will be transformed for the better by the provision of high quality housing.’

The new homes were designed specifically with the needs of both families in mind and built by local contractor QDL Development Ltd. on behalf of Wexford County Council.

Ahead of a meeting with Council officials to discuss the range of social housing activity taking place across the county, the Minister remarked - ‘I am confident that the Council are committed, energised and mobilised to deliver on the ambitious targets for social housing delivery that Government has set for each local authority across the country over the coming years. I want to reiterate that my Department and the relevant stakeholders are here to assist and support in realising that task’.

Damien English TD, Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal pictured with the Dempsey-Dobbs-Boyle family, Rita, Will, Lily, Shona Tom, Luke and Patrick and the Sheil family, T.J., Darren and Julie when he visited the special needs homes at Cum an Tobair, Oylegate.
