Motor insurance conviction
A MOTOR insurance conviction was handed down to Derek Canavan (37) of 31 Spencer’s Court, Enniscorthy when he attended the District Court in Wexford.
The case dated back to May of last year when Canavan was clocked driving at 85 km/h in the 60 km/h zone on the N11 in Ferrycarrig.
Traffic corps Garda Mairead Cummins caught up with him at Newcastle, Crossabeg and queried whether he had valid insurance.
The court was told that the accused drove on day in question for work purposes, in a vehicle which belonged to his partner, and he had no cover.
He was fined €300 and lost his licence for two years, while the speeding attracted a further fine of €150.
