AIN’T NO PARTY LIKE A PROHIBITION PARTY!
YOU would have been forgiven for thinking that you had taken a step back in time after passing through the doors of Treacy’s D-Bar recently as they returned to the roaring twenties with The Great Gatsby night.
The evening was a fundraiser for this year’s Strawberry Fair and saw the red carpet rolled out at the Chicago-style speakeasy for all kinds of gangsters and molls.
It was quite evident that a considerable effort went into the costumes which were on display on the night, feather boas, pearls, trilbies and spats being the order of the day. On arrival, guests were treated to some delicious gin cocktails and really adding to the evening was the entertainment from local jazz heroes Ain’t Misbehavin’ who played up a storm.
The event was the brainchild of Maria Nolan and Roisin Williams and they were delighted with the level of enthusiasm for the event from those in attendance. To finish, they had the difficult task of picking a ‘ best dressed couple’ and the prize of a two night stay in any of the Treacy’s Hotels went to Christine and Jimmy Reddington. The organisers thanked everyone who got involved in making the event a success, particularly Treacy’s Hotel for hosting.
