Cannabis possession

Enniscorthy Guardian - - NEWS -

POSSESSING a container which held a ‘small amount’ of cannabis at Ryland Road, Bunclody, on October 27 last has resulted in a fine for Stephen Levingstone of Clonhaston, Enniscorthy.

The court heard that the defendant was stopped on the day in question and handed over the container to gardaí. The court heard that Levingstone, who pleaded guilty to the offence, had two previous convictions - one for drugs and one for drink driving.

Solicitor Catriona Walsh told the court the cannabis, for which gardaí did not have a fixed value, was a very small amount.

She also pointed out that her client was not working and had just welcomed a newborn baby three weeks ago.

Upon hearing all this, Judge Haughton opted to convict and hand down a fine of €100.
