THE River Slaney is set to be ahive of activity around Marmion Bridge, Edermine, this weekend as the annual Edermine Ferry Rowing Club regatta casts off.

Teams from all over the county will be welcomed to the banks of the Slaney to take part and there will be a jam-packed programme of 25 nail-biting races along with qualifying heats to set the scene for some exciting Slaney Cot racing in both the junior and adult categories.

The racing will get underway between 4 and 4.30 this Saturday, depending on the tide, and organisers are hoping for a large attendance both from other rowing clubs and spectators to enjoy the action.

The level of competition is expected to be very high as the clubs battle it out on the water for silverware and all are welcome to attend.
