Niall Sheil travelled to Piltown on Friday week to compete in the Piltown 10k for the fourth and final race in the three-county league hosted by Carrickon-Suir A.C.

Having won the previous three races, Niall was hoping to make it a clean sweep of victories.

Despite torrential rain throughout, Niall ran a cracking time of 32 minutes 39 seconds but on this occasion had to settle for second place behind an impressive Thomas Hayes of Kilkenny City Harriers who won in a time of 31 minutes seven seconds.

Congratulations to Niall for winning the overall series.

Brian O’Shaughnessy travelled to New Ross the following evening to support United Striders in their annual road race.

As expected, it was a super event and there was a competitive field, with Brian finishing in 14th place in a time of 29 minutes 53 seconds.
