On July 30, we started open week with a mixed foursomes sponsored by Joyces Expert Wexford. It was a a well-supported and tightly-fought competitio­n.

Thursday, August 2, ladies’ 18-hole open stableford, sponsored by Hassett’s Pharmacy: 1, Mary McMahon (37), 38 points; 2, Therese Glasheen (21), 37 points; 3, Anna Sullivan (20), 37 points (back six); gross, Aisling O’Leary (2), 31 points; Senior, Mary O’Leary (22), 37 points; nine-hole competitio­n, Rose Morris (16), 15 points; visitor, Aileen Goode (31, Castle), 33 points.

Visiting clubs included Castle, Enniscorth­y and Tipperary. A total of 80 played and the C.S.S. was 73 (35 points).

Congratula­tions to the birthday girl Mary McMahon on her win in another closely-fought competitio­n.

This week’s competitio­n on Thursday, August 9, is a ladies’ 18-hole invitation­al fourball sponsored by Barker’s, Wexford.

Due to the Mid-Leinster championsh­ips taking place from August 16 to 18, we will hold a ladies’ 18-hole singles stableford competitio­n sponsored by Sam McCauley, Redmond Square, on Monday, August 13.

The timesheet for the annual scramble sponsored by Wexford Bus is in the ladies’ locker room until Thursday, August 9, with a few slots left for ladies. It will then be open (online) for the gents from Saturday, August 11.

A reminder that Wexford Golf Club will hold the Mid Leinster championsh­ips on August 16, 17 and 18. Booking online on Golfnet.ie. Senior section: handicap 0-12; Junior section: handicap 13-30.

The I.L.G.U. have advised that no buggies will be allowed on the course over the three days (even with a medical cert.). The closing date for entries is August 10.

Best of luck to the the Wexford men’s All-Ireland fourball team competing against Malahide in Tullamore on Sunday, August 12, in the Leinster final.
