ENNISCORTHY LADIES

-

Last Tuesday was open week and the competition was open for ladies and gents. The ladies’ competition was sponsored by Treacy’s Hotel.

The playing conditions had changed from the previous weeks, with a dampness in the air and the wind being a factor for those who played later in the day.

The scores were still high despite the conditions. Results: 1, Pauline Murphy (27), 41 points (back nine); 2, Maeve McCauley (17), 41 points; 3, Teresa Bailey (18), 40 points; 4, Sheila McGrath (34), 38 points (back nine); visitor, Mary Doran (Coollattin, 33), 35 points; nine-hole qualifier: 1, Bernie Butler, 18 points; 2, Chris Yates, 15 points.

Next week’s competition is sponsored by David Garahy and is a stroke/medal.

The Challenge Cup team played Tramore in Gowran on July 30 and, despite putting up a fantastic performance, lost on the 18th hole.
