Ho­los Skincare to hit Hong Kong market fol­low­ing new deal

BASED in En­nis­cor­thy’s En­ter­prise and Tech­nol­ogy Cen­tre, Ho­los Skincare is setting its sights on lu­cra­tive for­eign mar­kets af­ter agree­ing a deal to launch the prod­uct in Hong Kong. It’s been a me­te­oric rise for cre­ator and CEO Ni­amh Ho­gan, hav­ing scooped nu­mer­ous pres­ti­gious awards since launch­ing in 2014, in­clud­ing the cov­eted Im­age Pub­li­ca­tions Most In­no­va­tive Ir­ish Brand Award.

Man­u­fac­tur­ing and dis­tribut­ing plant-based skincare that helps pre­vent the signs of age­ing, Ho­los is avail­able lo­cally in Sam McCauleys and Evolv Health Store as well as through their on­line store at ho­los.ie. How­ever, Ni­amh is look­ing for­ward to ac­cess­ing a much big­ger market go­ing for­ward af­ter wel­com­ing new dis­tri­bu­tion part­ner Terry Chan from Der­mat­care Hong Kong to Ho­los HQ in En­nis­cor­thy last week to fi­nalise a deal to launch Ho­los Hong Kong - the com­pany’s first ma­jor move into the ex­port market.

‘I have been look­ing at Hong Kong since 2015 since meet­ing some prom­i­nent dis­trib­u­tors from the ter­ri­tory,’ Ni­amh ex­plained. ‘ They pre­dicted that skincare prod­ucts with an em­pha­sis on health and es­pe­cially es­sen­tial oils were pick­ing up pace. Hong Kong has a pop­u­la­tion of 7.5 mil­lion so larger than Ire­land but is 31 times smaller in size. It is a large num­ber of peo­ple in a very small space. It is phys­i­cally a small space to cover so we can place our fo­cus on it and not be spread too thin.’

Ni­amh said it was im­por­tant to find a brand part­ner in Hong Kong that main­tained the ‘ look, feel and ethos of the brand’ and she is con­fi­dent that Der­mat­care is the right fight. She also added that Ho­los will not be sell­ing on main­land China ‘ be­cause of their re­quired an­i­mal test­ing laws’.

Ho­los rose in pop­u­lar­ity af­ter Ni­amh’s suc­cess on RTE’s Dragons Den in 2016 and is also one of En­ter­prise Ire­land’s High Po­ten­tial Start ups. The com­pany cur­rently em­ploys a team of four with plans to ex­pand in the com­ing months to sup­port their growth on the do­mes­tic and ex­port market and Ni­amh is hope­fully her prod­ucts can be ev­ery bit as suc­cess­ful in Asia.
