BEREAVEMEN­T

The sympathy of the community is extended to Brendan and Breda Flood and family and to the Bolton-Lee family on the death of Brendan’s brother, Jim Bolton-Lee, Ballybeg, Ferns and late of Clasheen. The late Jim is mourned by his wife Pat, son James, daughters Paula, Lorna (McCrea), Patricia and Leona (Byrne), brothers Joe and Brendan, his sister Philomena, extended family and friends. The funeral Mass was held in St Columba’s Church, Ballyduff last Saturday and burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.

Congratula­tions to Sarah and Keith Rossiter on the birth of their second daughter, Holly, last week. A sister for Evie. Congratula­tions to the proud grand-parents also.

HERITAGE WEEK

The sixth annual Unyoke Walk for National Heritage Week will be held on Saturday, August 18. The Walk will begin at 10 a.m., from the Trading Post, on the R741 and proceed through historic and varied countrysid­e along the old Dublin-Wexford Coach Road to ascend Oulart Hill (179 m) with its vast panoramas and many monuments including the 1798 Battlefiel­d and.

Tulach a’tSolais. This is not a guided tour with stops, but several guides will be on hand if required. Walkers will be transporte­d back to the Trading Post after the Walk. It takes about 2.5 hours to complete this walk of approximat­ely7 miles. First Responders

Oulart-The Ballagh Community First Responders will hold a church-gate collection in Oulart and the Ballagh on the weekend of August 11/12. Your usual generous response is anticipate­d. The group is currently in training and hopes to be up and running shortly.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to the most recent winners of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot-Jim and Margaret Doyle, who won €102. The next draw will be held on Monday, August 13. Many thanks to all who continue to support this fundraiser for the local primary school.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

Breda Jacob and Linda Masterson are scheduled to read at Masses, in St Patrick’s Church, Oulart, on August 19 while Nuala Mythen and Angela Lawless are on reading duty on August 26.

BINGO IN OULART

The Oulart Hill Bar (proprietor Gary O’Leary) holds a very popular and well attended bingo session in the Lounge on Friday evenings, starting at 9 p.m.

SENIOR HURLING

Oulart-The Ballagh senior hurlers will play Ferns St Aidan’s in Monamolin on Wednesday, August 8, at 7.30 p.m.

CAKE SALE

A cake sale will be held outside St Patrick’s Church, Oulart after Mass next Saturday evening, August 11, and Sunday, August 12. This is being organised by Trisha Wiltshire, who is raising funds for Crumlin Children’s’ Hospital and will be running the New York City Marathon.

CLOTHES COLLECTION

A Used Clothes Collection is continuing throughout August in aid of Crumlin Children’s’ Hospital. Clothes can be left in the yard of the Legion Hall on all Saturday mornings in August and they will be collected at 12.30. To arrange a collection at any time please phone Trisha at 086 3080403.
