SINCERE SYMPATHY

We extend sincere sympathy to the family of the late Jim Bolton Lee from Ballybeg.

Jim drove the rural transport bus for a number of years and was always very good to the people from Askamore, who travelled on it.

ASKAMORE JOURNAL

Following a recent public meeting, plans were set in train to publish the fifth Askamore Journal. The editorial committee are now seeking photograph­s from earliest times up to and including the year 2000, of any occasion, topic or event – weddings, communions, school groups, weather extremes, sport, etc etc. Any photograph­s within the period on any subject will be welcome. Also being sought are poems, articles, or any text on general area which would reflect a slice of life in the 20th century. SENIOR ALERT SCHEME

Applicatio­n forms for Senior Alert Scheme, security signs for premises, property log books and bottle in the fridge are available from Askamore/Muintir na Tíre Community Alert. We can now provide applicatio­n forms for SAS to anyone outside the area whose community does not have the scheme in operation. Ph: Geraldine 087 7795922.

CAIRDE TEXT ALERT

It is planned to have Cairde Community text alert system up and running by August 15. A community member will contact anyone who has not yet downloaded the cairdeapp or renewed their 2018 group membership.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT

A girls night out will be held on Saturday, August 11, in the Old School Bar in Askamore in aid of the Hope Centre Enniscorth­y, this is for ladies only over 13 to get together and celebrate life, starting at 7.30 p.m. and please bring a dish of your choice either savoury or sweet, the bar will be open and cocktails will be flowing, bring a family member or friend. The following morning some of the ladies will be doing the Dip in the Nip in Rosslare, there will be a donation bucket in the hall.

SUMMER QIGONG

Please put the following date in your diary for summer Qigong will host an evening session on Tuesday, August 14, at 7.30 p.m. There will not be any Tuesday morning sessions till further notice.

RURAL TRANSPORT CHANGE

The rural transport bus will run on Tuesdays leaving Askamore car park at 9.30 a.m. The bus will make the usual stops along the way arriving in Gorey at 10 a.m.

GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of our recent lotto draw. The numbers were 16, 27, 31 ad 32. Lucky-dip winners were Kit Kennedy, Maeve Donnelly, SKC Providers and Lisa Owens. Sarah Codd won the Sellers’ Prize. The next draw is in Gahan’s, Clohamon on Tuesday, August 14, with the jackpot now €3,300. The €2 tickets are available from club players and members.
