Enniscorth­y Hockey Club’s ladies’ first XI now have a seven-point lead - and a goal difference of +19 - at the summit of Leinster Division 7 following a 1-0 win over Dublin side Suttonians on Saturday.

Donal Doyle’s side were ahead at the break at the Astro Active Centre through a Jessie Flood goal after a dominant display.

The visitors, though, upped their game in the second-half, earning a number of penalty corners but they were unable to crack a tough Enniscorth­y defence. Bottom side Monkstown host the league leaders next, on November 10.

The Under-14 boys had a good 5-0 win against Railway Union on Sunday in their first outing in the Leinster league. Next up is a trip to Dublin and Y.M.C.A.

The second year girls lost narrowly 1-0 to a strong North Kildare side at the Astro Active Centre on Sunday morning in the Minor B2 league, a result that leaves them in fourth place.

The club held a ‘trailer of sticks’ fundraiser over the weekend, with club members selling raffle tickets at Lidl in Enniscorth­y. The winner was Billy Murphy from Clonhaston. Many thanks to all who contribute­d, and also to all club members who helped out.

Next on the fundraisin­g agenda is the joint fundraiser with the Enniscorth­y Lions Club on Thursday, November 8. The food and wine craft fair takes place at the Riverside Park Hotel and tickets at just €10 each are available from club members.
