Application for 44 social houses

-

WEXFORD COUNTY Council has submitted a planning application for a development of 44 social housing units in Pembrokestown.

The local authority intends to build 26 apartments and 18 houses on the site which is located at the junction of Whiterock Hill Road and Whiterock Crescent.

The 1.5 hectare site is currently overgrown with gorse, willow and bramble.

In planning documents, it is explained that the initial plan was to deliver 36 units of semi-detached houses and apartments in a large block, at an estimated cost of just over €6m.

However, as the process went on, the brief was adjusted and the number of units increased to 44 apartments and houses, to be clustered around home zones with a central pocket park.

The breakdown of units is: four three-bed apartments; 16 two-bed apartments; six onebed apartments; 14 three-bed semi-detached houses; and four four-bed semi-detached houses.
