Local shop returns to the Ballagh with Boland’s XL

-

THERE were quite a few colourful characters spotted in The Ballagh recently as the village’s latest business venture hosted its official opening.

Boland’s XL has been serving customers in Ballaghkeene since June, however, owners David and Deirdre Boland were keen to take the opportunity to make things official with a little party to introduce themselves to the community.

On the day there were characters that were crazy and terrifying in equal measure, along with face-painting for the kids as well as some wonderful deals for adults.

‘It went really well,’ said David Boland. ‘We had plenty of kids in on the day and it went

even better than we thought it would. We’ve been working on this since probably February or March and we opened the doors in June. We had a few bits and pieces to sort out then, but we wanted to make things official with an official opening.’

The new shop employs a total of five people and has gotten great feedback from the local community, which has been without a shop for a while.

‘ The reaction has been really positive,’ David said. ‘People have been commenting that it’s great to have a local shop again and we’re seeing new people come in the doors every week, which is great.’
