Online scam victims to have their say in court

-

THE victims of an online scam which saw a woman take money for saddles that she never intended to supply will have their chance to speak out in court after Judge Haughton adjourned the case to hear from them.

Alice Presley (25) of Ballyredmond, Clonegal, was charged with a total of six counts of inducing payment by deception between February and May of 2017. The total amount paid over to Presley between the six charges was €1,675, with amounts ranging from €175 up to €450.

On a previous occasion Presley had pleaded guilty to the charges and it was heard that she had advertised saddles for sale that she had no intention of providing. The court also previously heard that she had advertised a home for sale on Homestay.com and taken €225 from a victim, despite the fact that she didn’t actually own the house.

When the case was called, Judge Haughton said that he wanted to give the victims a chance to have their say on the matter and he adjourned the matter until November 2 to allow this happen.
