ANYTHING QUARE IN YOUR LOCAL PUB
PLENTY of laughter could be heard eminating from Enniscorthy’s watering holes last week as Enniscorthy Drama Group brought it’s brand new, innovative venture to pubs across the town. ‘Well, Anything Quare?’ is a comedy play set in a rural pub and is currently in the midst of somewhat of a mini-tour of some of Enniscorthy’s finest establishments.
Offering something truly different, the play uses the existing pubs as a ready made set for what is a hilarious examination of Irish pub culture. Set in August of this year, the play features characters that will be familiar to anyone who has a ‘ local’, as they run their eye over current events and enjoy a bit of craic over a pint.
The play features a stellar cast including Ronan Byrne, Fintan Kelly, Karen Franklin, Pat Murphy, Kate Breen, Madeline Breen, Niall and Sandra Holohan, Joe Doyle, Aisling Williams, Dearbháil Murphy, Cameron Cloke and Fergal Kelly.
Last week, the play took over Doyle’s of the Duffry and Holohan’s in Slaney Place and gained some rave reviews in the process. On both nights, the cast and crew enjoyed packed houses and people even had to be turned away, encouraged to get tickets for this week’s show to avoid missing out.
Tickets are said to be extremely limited for this week’s performances as the show heads for Donohoe’s of the Duffry on Thursday night and the IFA Centre on Friday. People are encouraged to pick up tickets at the venue now to avoid disappointment.
The Drama Group also wished to thank everyone who attended last week’s shows for their warmth and support and are hopeful for two more sold-out nights this week.
