- By BRENDAN KEANE

BUNCLODY library played host to a talk on climate change at which well known meteorologist Gerald Fleming was the key speaker.

Mr Fleming, who retired as the Head of the Forecast division with Met Éireann in 2017, is one of Ireland’s most recognisable weather forecasters having presented the weather report on national television for many years.

Mr Fleming’s talk focussed attention on the science behind climate change. Following his education with the CBS in Wexford, Mr Fleming completed B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Experimental Physics from UCD - following which he joined Met Éireann in 1980.

For most of his 37 years with Met Éireann he worked as a weather forecaster and broadcaster and it was through that work that he became a familiar face to householders all over Ireland.

Passionate about meteorology he is still very active in that area today and he works
