PRIDE OF PLACE WINNERS

Congratula­tions to Bunclody Town Team and to all the local community and sporting organisati­ons in the area who helped Bunclody to an All Island of Ireland Pride of Place Award in Cork last weekend. It is wonderful for us to see what services, facilities and community spirit we do have in Bunclody and we managed to display it to the Adjudicato­rs Tom and Alison Dowling when they visited Bunclody on July 26 last. A celebratio­n for all will take place at a later date. Meanwhile the award is on display in our Tourist Office. Well done to one and all.

CHRISTMAS MARKET

Bunclody Market are having their Christmas Market on Friday evening, December 7, in St Aidan’s Hall. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a mulled wine reception and Christmas baking from our market bakers. We will have the shine bright theatre school joining us to sing some beautiful carols.

There will be more than 20 stalls ranging from fresh baking jams chutney honey. knitting fresh organic vegetables, handmade cards, plants, jewellery, books, Christmas arrangemen­ts, beauty products, candles, soaps, bric-à-brac, art, clothes and so on. We have a Christmas raffle running for the month of December. For a fantastic prize of a hand-crafted rocking horse valued at €300 and other prizes in did of Home Care Cancer and Bunclody Market. WALKING FOOTBALL

The FAI will run a five-week Walking Football Course will commence in Bunclody Soccer Club, continues on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to midday. This is suitable for people of all ages, genders, nationalit­ies and ethnic groups. Walking Football is great fun and wonderful exercise and its free to all participan­ts.

GAA CLUB WALKING TRACK

Halfway House Bunclody GAA Club will light the walking track at the club grounds three nights a week for two hours a night starting soon till March. Walkers must pay membership to cover insurance and the cost of electricit­y. Membership for walkers is Adults €10 and OAPs €5 for the year.

Bunclody’s outdoor market – Mall Market, Market Square Bunclody is a street market this is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to three. It has been up and running for some time now and is selling hand crafted gifts, vintage finds collectabl­es, local pro- duce, breads, cakes, fresh fruit, jams, honey, potatoes, knitwear, bric-à-brac and flowers.
