Found in possession of tools stolen from garage

BEING in possession of tools stolen from a local garage has resulted in a conviction for Sebastian Iovan (20) of 1 Priory Court, Enniscorthy.

The Romanian national was charged with possessing a stolen battery pack, and a stolen tyre compressor at Hospital Lane on August 10 last. He was also charged with driving without insurance at Priory Court on September 28 of last year.

Solicitor John O’Donovan pointed out that his client had been in Ireland since he was nine years old and asked the Judge to consider the possibility of community service.

Upon hearing all the evidence and mitigation, Judge Gerard Haughton opted to convict and fine Iovan €400 on each charge of handing stolen property. On the no insurance charge, he handed down a €300 fine and a two year driving ban.
