Ribbon is cut on new Grant’s Pharmacy

NEW PHARMACY HAS CREATED NINE JOBS AT THE LONG-EMPTY DUNNES BUILDING ON RAFTER STREET

Enniscorthy Guardian - - NEWS - By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

LOCAL representatives, business owners, healthcare professionals and members of the general public gathered at the new Grant’s Pharmacy on Rafter Street recently for what was a momentous occasion for owner Leonie Grant, her family and her staff. While the shop had already opened its doors in the infamous Old Dunnes Stores building, they decided to have an official opening ceremony and introduce themselves to the town centre in style with a get-together in store.

While the name Grants is in no way new to Enniscorthy, having operated a store in The Duffry for the past seven years, this latest venture represents a significant investment in Enniscorthy by Leonie and her husband, developer Martin Sinnott, as they aim to be to the very fore of a regeneration of the town centre.

On the night there was a nod to the history of the Pharmacy with Leonie’s mother Bernie, who set up the first Grant’s Pharmacy in Wexford nearly 40 years ago, doing the honours and cutting the ribbon. District

Manager Liz Hore and local councillors all congratulated Leonie and her team on a job well done and wished them every success for the future, commenting that it was brilliant to see such a fine shop occupying a building that had been vacant for so long.

‘ The reaction in town so far has been really, really good,’ Leonie beamed. ‘People seem to be thrilled with our offering and the fact that you can also access the shop from the rear car park is a big thing. As well as that, our new waiting area with tea and coffee is proving a big hit and we encourage people to drop in.’

As well as alleviating the eyesore of the Old Dunnes building, the new venture has also generated a total of nine new jobs and all present were keen to wish Leonie and her staff all the very best for the future.
