Christmas Lights Switch- On will take place in Bunclody on Saturday, December 8, at 5 p.m. at Market Square. Join us for some Christmas music, entertainm­ent and fun and for the big switch-on.

CHRISTMAS MARKET

Bunclody Market are having their Christmas Market on Friday evening, December 7, in St Aidan’s Hall. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a mulled wine reception and Christmas baking from our market bakers. We will have the shine bright theatre school joining us to sing some beautiful carols.

We have a Christmas raffle running for the month of December. For a fantastic prize of a hand-crafted rocking horse valued at €300 and other prizes in did of Home Care Cancer and Bunclody Market. BRIDGE

Bunclody Bridge Club held an Individual Competitio­n over two weeks and the winners were first Mary Mahon second Peggy Mahon third Ethel Griffin fourth Maura Quinlivan fifth Bernie Foley sixth Mary Shannon.

Bunclody Bridge Club meets in Redmond’s, Main street on Wednesday evenings.

WALKING FOOTBALL

The FAI Walking Football in Bunclody Soccer Club, continues on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to midday.

GAA CLUB WALKING TRACK

Halfway House Bunclody GAA Club will light the walking track at the club grounds three nights a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. till March. Walkers must pay membership to cover insurance and the cost of electricit­y. annual Walking Membership is Adults €10 and OAPs €5 for the year. MASS FOR DECEASED

The annual Mass for deceased members of HWH Bunclody GAA Club, Ladies’ Football Club and Bunclody camogie club will take place in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody on Saturday, December 8, at 7 p.m.

Bunclody’s outdoor market, Mall Market, Market Square, is a street market this is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to three. It is selling hand crafted gifts, vintage finds collectabl­es, local produce, breads, cakes, fresh fruit, jams, honey, potatoes, knitwear, bric-à-brac and flowers.

Coming up in Bunclody Library – Thursday, December 6, at 7 p.m. – Historical Talk with Brian Matthews on Myles Byrne and Arthur Wellesley at 7 p.m. – Join us for a talk on Myles Byrne, who was born in the townland of Ballylusk near Monaseed and participat­ed in preparatio­ns for the 1798 Rebellion, fought at Oulart, Enniscorth­y, the Battle of Clough or Battle of Tubberneer­ing, the Battle of Arklow, the Battle of Vinegar Hill, Castlecome­r and Ballygulle­n at the age of 18. Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington (May 1, 1769 – September 14, 1852) was an Anglo-Irish soldier and statesman who was one of the leading military and political figures of 19th-century Britain, serving twice as Prime Minister. POINT TO POINT

Carlow Farmers Hunt is holding their annual Point to Point on Sunday, December 9, in Borris House. The first race is at midday. Santa will be arriving at 2 p.m. on his horse and Sleigh and can be found in his grotto on site. There will also be a Christmas Market.
