Art on sale for Amnesty

- By MARIA PEPPER

TO COINCIDE with International Human Rights Day, the Pigyard Art Galley in Selskar, Wexford, will sell paintings donated by artists from all over Europe for €100 on Friday, December 7, at 6.30 p.m. All profits will go to Wexford Amnesty Group.

The range of paintings is eclectic with something for everyone, including small framed landscapes, still lives, mounted watercolours and abstract canvases.

If you can’t wait until Friday, December 7, you can pop in to Pigyard Gallery from Tuesday, December 4, where the paintings will be on view. If something catches your eye, you are welcome to make a bid for the painting of your choice.

The auction will feature a stunning collection of more than 60 works of art by local Irish and international artists.

A donated oil painting by Antonin Passemard from France who won a silver prize at this year’s Art in the Open festival in Wexford, will be raffled on the night, with tickets costing €5 each or three for €10.

The sale has been organised to coincide with International Human Rights Day. In giving a gift of art, people will also be giving a gift of hope this Christmas.
