Ladies involved in shield win in W.I.T.
WHILE OUTRIGHT victory went to Ulster in the ladies’ football inter-provincial tournament held in W.I.T. recently, there was some consolation for Leinster when they collected the shield crown.
And there was a strong Wexford involvement on the successful panel, as the games featured key contributions from Mary Rose Kelly, Bernie Breen and Maria Byrne.
The fixtures for the 2019 Lidl National League Division 2 campaign were also released last week, and the Slaneysiders’ first game will be away to Waterford on February 2.
They will entertain Clare eight days later, before meeting Tyrone on February 23.
The March 3 fixture will be particularly interesting for Breen as it will be away to her native Kerry, while the squad will also be on the road to Laois a fortnight later.
Wexford will host Cavan on March 24, and they will be on the road once more to face Armagh in their final group fixture on April 7.
