Moyne sink Sky Blues

Rangers come out on top against cham­pi­ons

Moyne Rangers dented North End’s hopes of re­tain­ing their Premier Di­vi­sion crown with a 2-1 win over their ri­vals on Sun­day.

Ryan Ma­hon and Gra­ham Dono­hoe got on the score­sheet for Moyne as they laid down a real marker for the rest of the sea­son. Adam Beary got the goal for the Sky Blues.

Co­rach Ram­blers con­tin­ued their good form with a 2-1 vic­tory over Cour­town Hibs. Niall Har­ney and Gareth McCurtin scored for the win­ners, with Matty Ka­vanagh re­ply­ing.

Ross­lare Rangers have also been ac­quit- ting them­selves well and they got another three points on the board when see­ing off Wex­ford Bohs 2-0, with Niall Walsh and Mark Fur­long get­ting their goals.

Bun­clody and Bridge Rovers came away with a point apiece af­ter a 1-1 draw, with An­drew Kelly scor­ing for the hosts and Kevin Mur­phy hit­ting the back of the net for the Castle­bridge out­fit.

Di­vi­sion 1 lead­ers Kilmore United eked out a 1-0 win for the sec­ond week in suc­ces­sion to ex­tend their ad­van­tage at the top of the ta­ble to eight points. Andy Kennedy got the all-im­por­tant goal for the pace­set­ters.

St. Cor­mac’s were held to a 1-1 draw by bot­tom side St Leonards.

Ken­neth Cahill curled in a su­perb free­kick to put Leonards in front on the half hour mark, but Jimmy Sweeney drew the vis­i­tors level af­ter the in­ter­val.

Campile United trav­elled to play Gorey Celtic and they hit the hosts for six, with David Larkin con­tribut­ing a tre­ble and P.J. Banville, Gra­ham ‘Dax’ Howlin and Colin Nolan adding a goal apiece in a 6-2 tri­umph. Owen Byrne and Marco San­tos hit the back of the net for the hosts.

North End’s sec­ond string fared bet­ter than their first team as they over­came Moyne Rangers 4-2, with Jor­dan Jar­rett, Dean Roche, Seán Mullins and Ciarán Carthy scor­ing for the win­ners and David Franklin grab­bing the Moyne goal.

Kevin Mur­phy and Páidí Cullen got on the score­sheet for Clough­bawn in their 2-1 win over New Ross Town, with Thomas Modestos re­ply­ing.

O’Neill’s LFA Ju­nior Shield

Joe Hy­land was the hat-trick hero for En­nis­cor­thy Town on Sun­day as his side marched on to the third round of the O’Neill’s LFA Ju­nior Shield. Hy­land’s tre­ble helped the hosts to a 4-3 tri­umph over BJD Celtic at Pearse Road, with Danny O’Brien grab­bing their other goal.
