Moyne sink Sky Blues

Rangers come out on top against champions

Premier Division

Moyne Rangers dented North End’s hopes of retaining their Premier Division crown with a 2-1 win over their rivals on Sunday.

Ryan Mahon and Graham Donohoe got on the scoresheet for Moyne as they laid down a real marker for the rest of the season. Adam Beary got the goal for the Sky Blues.

Corach Ramblers continued their good form with a 2-1 victory over Courtown Hibs. Niall Harney and Gareth McCurtin scored for the winners, with Matty Kavanagh replying.

Rosslare Rangers have also been acquit- ting themselves well and they got another three points on the board when seeing off Wexford Bohs 2-0, with Niall Walsh and Mark Furlong getting their goals.

Bunclody and Bridge Rovers came away with a point apiece after a 1-1 draw, with Andrew Kelly scoring for the hosts and Kevin Murphy hitting the back of the net for the Castlebrid­ge outfit.

Division1

Division 1 leaders Kilmore United eked out a 1-0 win for the second week in succession to extend their advantage at the top of the table to eight points. Andy Kennedy got the all-important goal for the pacesetter­s.

St. Cormac’s were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom side St Leonards.

Kenneth Cahill curled in a superb freekick to put Leonards in front on the half hour mark, but Jimmy Sweeney drew the visitors level after the interval.

Campile United travelled to play Gorey Celtic and they hit the hosts for six, with David Larkin contributi­ng a treble and P.J. Banville, Graham ‘Dax’ Howlin and Colin Nolan adding a goal apiece in a 6-2 triumph. Owen Byrne and Marco Santos hit the back of the net for the hosts.

North End’s second string fared better than their first team as they overcame Moyne Rangers 4-2, with Jordan Jarrett, Dean Roche, Seán Mullins and Ciarán Carthy scoring for the winners and David Franklin grabbing the Moyne goal.

Kevin Murphy and Páidí Cullen got on the scoresheet for Cloughbawn in their 2-1 win over New Ross Town, with Thomas Modestos replying.

O’Neill’s LFA Junior Shield

Joe Hyland was the hat-trick hero for Enniscorth­y Town on Sunday as his side marched on to the third round of the O’Neill’s LFA Junior Shield. Hyland’s treble helped the hosts to a 4-3 triumph over BJD Celtic at Pearse Road, with Danny O’Brien grabbing their other goal.
