CAMOGIE CLUB OF THE YEAR

Kilrush camogie club has been selected as Wexford camogie club of the year. Heartiest congratula­tions and well done to all players, members and parents for all their commitment to the club throughout the year.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Friday, November 23, winner of split-the-pot is Paula Buttle, Donishall – winning €165. We thank everyone for supporting split-the-pot. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.

VINTAGE CLUB AGM

Askamore Vintage Club AGM will be held on Tuesday, November 27, at 8.30 p.m. New members are very welcome. Contact Donal at 087 6848004.

ART EXHIBITION

The Art Exhibition held in Askamore Community Centre last weekend was a fantastic success. All, who came to the exhibition were very impressed by the fantastic display of works by our local artists. You can see a full report and pictures taken on the opening night by Ger Lacey, in next week’s Gorey Guardian.

CAIRDE

The new cairdeapp system is now in use by Askamore Community Text/Event Alert group. You can still join and keep informed of what is happening in your area. New members are welcome. If you have not already done so, you can now download the app. New members must first register with Askamore Community Text Alert. FINCHES FITNESS

Pilates classes continue in Askamore at 8.45 a.m. every Wednesday followed by fitness classes at 10 a.m. and Fit for Anything group 11.15-12.15. Contact Declan at 086 8468165.

RURAL TRANSPORT

The local link bus leaves Askamore Church car park at 9.30 a.m. every Tuesday morning and 9.45 on Saturday mornings. This is a vital link to Gorey for many people and we would encourage people to use the service as often as possible. Phone Willie – 087 2449167 – for more informatio­n.

CARNEW MUSICAL SOCIETY

St Brigid’s Hall had full houses last week Carnew Musical Society’s production of My Fair Lady which received rapturous applause and standing ovations each night. The society were overwhelme­d by the overall reaction to the show and by the many compliment­ary reviews for all aspects of the show. Congratula­tions to everyone involved in this stunning production.

KILRUSH DRAMA GROUP

Carnew audiences will not have too long to wait to see more drama as Kilrush Drama Group will present their annual festival play in St Brigid’s Hall on February 15 and 17,2019. Watch this space for further details.
