SPLIT THE POT

The winner of Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew split-the-pot of November 23 was Tara, Laoise and Aoibhne Doran winning €248, tickets on sale from the school or local shops.

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Shem Moore, Tombreane, who died last week, his remains were removed to Carnew on Sunday morning for 11 a.m. Mass, followed by burial in Carnew grave yard. To the family and relatives of Mary Kate Sheils, Garryhaste­n, who died during the week and was buried on Thursday in Clonegal cemetery. To the family and relatives of Bridie Kinsella, Balllyfad, who died during the week.

GAA LOTTO

Carnew GAA lotto was not won, numbers were 2, 9, 22 and 29, lucky dips were Marion Kinsella. Wayne Austin. Ella Collins, c/o Wally. Lizzie Kennedy, c/o M Hall. The next draw was December 3 in Kennys and the jackpot was €2,800, tickets only €2 from any member or local shops.

COOLBOY HANDBALL CLUB

Congratula­tions to Coolboy handball club on winning their first ever all-Ireland senior club championsh­ip beating Kerry’s Glenbeigh, players are Jerome Willoughby, Michael Gregan. Michael Lennon. Johnny Willough- by and Keith Kavanagh. Well done to all involved.

BABY KNITTING/CROCHET

The collection of blankets and baby knit wear for Crumlin hospital will take place on Monday, December 17, at 3 p.m. in Carnew Community Care. A nurse from the hospital will attend. All, who have contribute­d in any way are very welcome to come along. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Details of Tinahely Walking Club Sunday walks for the next two weeks.

December 2: Glen of Imaal. Level B, 10km, three hours. Meet Tinahely 10 a.m. or Fenton’s Pub 10.30 a.m.

December 9: Askamore. Level B, 12km, 3.5 hours. Meet Askamore car park 10.30 a.m.

As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food and drink.

URGENT MEETING CARNEW CHRISTMAS LIGHTS.

A meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 5, at 8 p.m. in Carnew Training and Developmen­t Centre. Pride in Carnew have amalgamate­d with Carnew Christmas lights committee and a meeting has been organised to discuss the Christmas lights for Carnew.

As you will all know from last year, the lights are scarce around the town and the volunteers are even scarcer. If you want Carnew looking good for Christmas this year, it is essential that you attend this meeting so we can sort something out before it is too late. Please, we are depending on you to have some Pride in Carnew. Hope to see you there.
