A battle of wits for a good cause at the Fine Gael Table Quiz!
WHILE councillors frequently enjoy a battle of wits in the council chambers, battle lines were drawn in an irregular setting in Rackard’s recently as Fine Gael representatives joined in a charity table quiz hosted by the party’s Enniscorthy branch.
Keen to do their bit for a great cause at this time of year, the local Fine Gael committee decided that Wexford Hospice Homecare were the ideal beneficiaries and those affiliated with the party turned out in force to support the venture.
‘It was a really great night and it was a great laugh,’ said committee member Kay Doyle. ‘I think we had 25 tables on the night and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. It was a great social night as well.’
Quiz master on the night was Charlie Kavanagh and there could have been some confusion on the night when his round was called at the bar as a total of four Charlie Kavanaghs from various corners of the family were present at the event, and they pointed out that a new little Charlie Kavanagh had been born not too long ago! All four Charlies present on the night are Fine Gael members, following in a family tradition that stretches right back through the history of the local council.
The winning quiz team consisted of Maggie and Ed Creane, Jackie Stafford and Niall Morris and they weren’t the only winners with lots of spot prizes also given away. According to Kay the evening managed to raise approximately €1,200 for Hospice, giving them an early Christmas boost. The committee wished to thank everyone who came along, donated prizes and got involved in making the evening such a success.
