Wheelock’s restaurant to open

-

PHASE one of a major €1million development at Wheelock’s Fruit Farm in Finchogue is to officially open on Friday.

A brand new 80-seater restaurant and coffee shop is to be the catalyst for the ambitious plans of husband and wife team Cyril and Margaret Wheelock.

This represents the first phase in a €1million plan for the fruit farm, which they hope will be completed midway through 2019.

Leading fruit growers in the South East, it has always been the dream for Cyril and Marga- ret to provide a complete tourist experience at their farm and in recent years they have travelled across Europe, gaining insight into the best ways of making this dream into a reality.

In addition to the new restaurant and coffee shop, a forestry walk is being developed at the farm, along with picnic areas and it will also host a variety of different traditional farm animals.

Younger visitors will be able to make use of a host of different attractions including a fire-engine and a double-decker bus and young and old will be able to pick their own fruit in any one of the many fruit tunnels dotted around the farm.

When completed, the new visitor centre will provide parking for upwards of 100 cars and it is hoped that it will provide another major boost to Enniscorthy’s burgeoning tourism sector.

The new restaurant will have its official opening on Friday and will be under the management of Lisa Curtis from Adamstown who is excited to show off the varied menu on offer.
