Joy bringing joy to the world with her Christmas cards
A County Wexford company has launched a range of Christmas and New Year cards for every type of personality among friends and family from the Christmas curmudgeon and the cheapskate to the bah humbug and the new year’s irresolute.
Gorey woman Joy Redmond is the woman behind the company called trust wordie which she founded last September after reading ‘Steal like an Artist’ by Austin Kleon which is all about getting yourself a side hustle.
Joy is better known locally for her long-standing association with Sonrú, one of the world leaders in video interviewing technology, based in Wexford town, where she is head of research. She is also a popular mentor with Wexford Local Enterprise Office.
The Christmas and New Year cards which include a thoughtful card for those experiencing their first Christmas without a loved one, are selling in House of Cards and Gorey Visitor Centre, the Wilds in Enniscorthy and online at www.trustsword.ie.
They have been very positively received which is evident from reviews on the website and social media comments.
Joy says the initial range of quirky wordy greeting cards that include thank you, birthday and sympathy cards were a result of all her years of speech writing and marketing which involved helping people articulate what they want to say but lack perhaps the emotional vocabulary or humour to express.
‘It’s a passion project. I really enjoy writing the blog and then hearing about the ‘joy’ my cards have brought and the conversations they’ve started. We all have hundreds, sometimes thousands, of friends and followers online yet people often feel disconnected.’
‘Personally, I think there is an appetite to stop hiding behind technology and reconnect with people. I hope my trust wordies will be more than a greeting or Christmas card but the opening move in a long and lovely conversation’, she said.
Trust wordie cards are not only good for the mind but the environment too. The paper that is used is 100% chlorine free pulp from a sustainable and well-managed source. The envelopes and packaging envelopes are made from recycled paper and recycled maps respectively while the sleeves are a plastic alternative and are 100% biodegradable.
