Bunclody Market is open for business every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in St Aidan’s Hall, Irish Street, Bunclody. Tea and coffee and cakes are served so come along in and take a relaxing break from shopping in town. Get your Christmas goods, fresh baking, organic vegetables, jams, chutneys, honey, plants, crafts, clothes and much more. THE MALL MARKET

Bunclody’s outdoor market – Mall Market, Market Square Bunclody is a street market this is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. up to and including Saturday, December 22, The Market will then take a break for a number of weeks and hope to see you all when they resume in the New Year. The Mall Market sells hand crafted gifts, vintage finds collectabl­es, local produce, breads, cakes, fresh fruit, jams, honey, potatoes, knitwear, bric-à-brac and flowers. THE MONDAY CLUB

The Monday Club meets at St Mary’s Day Centre, Ryland Road on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come along-enjoy a social and Informativ­e gathering.

Throughout the year there is entertainm­ent, informatio­n sharing, arts and crafts, guest speakers, bingo and card playing.

Coming up in Bunclody Library – On Thursday, December 20, at 7 p.m. Christmas Carols with Bunclody and Kilmyshall Choir, who will be singing Christmas Carols and other seasonal favourites in Bunclody Library. Regular Adult Events Bunclody Knitting Club Wednesday mornings at 10.30 a.m. All Welcome Free Event – Thursday, January 3, at 7 p.m. – Titania’s Palace – Talk and Movie – Often called the eighth wonder of the world, Titania’s Palace was a unique re-creation in miniature of Edwardian palatial living – a home fit for the Fairy Queen. Designed by Sir Nevile Wilkinson, master cabinet-makers James Hicks and Sons began to construct it in Dublin in 1907. With gold, silver, diamonds, pearls, 100-year-old oak panelling, electricit­y, central heating, and 10,000 artefacts – including a 3,000 years’ old tiny enamel horse from a tomb in the Valley of Kings – Titania’s Palace was finished 15 years later. In this short film, older people recall seeing the famous ‘doll’s house’ in Kilanerin, Gorey. The film visits Titania’s Palace where it is now on display in Denmark. – Booking essential

Saturday, January 12, at 2.30 p.m. – Yoga for adults with Croi Yoga – For a Bright New Beginning in 2019. A yoga practice with Catherine from Croi.

Yoga. Join Catherine for an hour of gentle but effective yoga practice designed to shake off those Christmas Cobwebs. Catherine will guide you through an hour long practice to help gently stretch out those muscles, move those joints and breathe some vigour and vitality back into those lungs. GAA CLUB WALKING TRACK

Halfway House Bunclody GAA Club will light the walking track at the club grounds three nights a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. till March. Walkers must pay membership to cover insurance and the cost of electricit­y. annual Walking Membership is Adults €10 and OAPs €5 for the year.

Carlow Arts Office is pleased to announce that applicatio­ns are now open for Arts Organisati­ons and Community Groups Grants and Individual Arts Grants for 2019.

BUNCLODY VOCATIONAL COLLEGE STUDENTS SUCCESSFUL AT NATIONAL ETTA FINALS

Former Bunclody Vocational College student Shane Ryan and current fifth year student Luke McHale both experience­d success at the national final of this year’s Engineerin­g and Technology Teachers Associatio­n (ETTA) competitio­ns held recently in Mullingar, County Westmeath. ETTA is a voluntary administer­ed associatio­n representi­ng teachers of Engineerin­g, Technology and Design and Communicat­ion Graphics. The aim of the associatio­n is to improve standards and performanc­e within Technology Education.

Shane was included as one of the 24 finalists in the Young Engineer competitio­n from around the country having beaten off stiff competitio­n from other schools in the recent regional finals. Shane received a certificat­e for reaching the final and was also drawn out of all of the finalists for a Surface Go Computer.

Luke McHale was awarded with a certificat­e for his overall result in Junior Certificat­e Metalwork. His award was presented by the State Exams Commission as his overall result for this subject was within the top 10 results in the country.

‘Bunclody Vocational College students have a great track record in this competitio­n and have won the National title on a number of occasions’ commented school principal James Murphy. ‘We wish both students the very best of luck in their future studies’ he stated.
