Festive fun for everyone at EVC Christmas market
THE spirit of Christmas was alive and well at Enniscorthy Vocational College recently as the school hosted its very first Christmas Market. Those in attendance had plenty to take in with some 80 stalls set up on the day with a combination of crafters, student entrepreneurs and fundraisers for various local charities.
There were more than a few Christmas gift ideas with knitwear, jewellery, cushions, stained glass, wood-turning, candles, soft toys, canvases, mirrors and lots of festive wreaths and decorations on offer. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for students from the Vocational College, along with guest students from St Mary’s CBS, Coláiste Bríde, FCJ Bunclody and Loreto Wexford to showcase their talents.
The smell of delicious baked goods wafted around the hall and there was a wonderful festive atmosphere as members of the public filed in. Music was provided by Stephen Murphy along with EVC student Stephen Sinnott with Christmas classics at the top of the list and there was also a festive-themed photo booth and face-painting for the little ones.
Transition Year students at the Vocational College took the lead alongside teacher Ms Laura Mcwalter when it came to preparing for the event and there was a charitable element with certain stalls devoted to raising funds for causes such as the Hope Foundation, Touched by Suicide and Fairy Footprints.
Principal at the school Dr Iain Wickham said that the event received great support from the local community and thanked the organising committee, staff and everyone who played a part, wishing them a happy Christmas.
