The story of Christmas comes to life at IFA Centre’s live crib
ONCE again, the story of Christmas came to life at the Farm Centre on Millpark Road as the IFA hosted its annual live crib. Huge crowds travelled from all over Wexford to attend on the day and embrace some of the magical Christmas atmosphere.
As well as having actors portraying Mary, Joseph and the wise men, there was great excitement for the animals that were part of proceedings which included donkeys, calves, goats, sheep and turkeys - maybe not all part of the traditional nativity scene, but highly entertaining nonetheless!
A steady crowd filed into the event over the course of the day and there was also festive face-painting and Enniscorthy Gospel Choir kept everyone entertained singing Christmas carols inside. Once inside, there was plenty of excitement in the farm centre as big and small kids got the opportunity to come face to face with the man himself - Santa Claus - who said that there had been a marked increase in the amount of Enniscorthy children on his ‘nice’ list this year.
‘It was a very positive day,’ said IFA Chairman James Kehoe. ‘ There was a lovely atmosphere and lots of families came along and enjoyed themselves. Donations were also collected on the day and I think we raised nearly €3,000 for the Hope Centre and the Irish Pilgrimage Trust. Hopefully we’ll be able to send a sick child, or maybe even two to Lourdes as a result of it.’
The event has very much become a festive favourite for families right across Wexford at this stage and the IFA have confirmed that they are to continue with the tradition once again next Christmas.
