BALLY MONEY

Wednesday 9-hole competition (mixed) - Winner: Michael Murphy (15) 20 points.

Due to very bad weather on Saturday the weekend Singles Stableford was played on Sunday morning. Thanks to the hard working ground staff the course stood up well to the rain.

More rain on Sunday curtailed the field somewhat. Andrew Byrne (20) coped best with the tough conditions and posted the winning score of 41 points. Frank Layton (14) was second with 40 points with Stephen Greene (16) third on 38 points.

The 12-hole Winter league will start again after Christmas.

NEWROSS

Club Classic: This weekend saw the beginning of our annual ‘Club Classic’. Teams of four made up of any combination may enter and the competition is open to both members and visitors alike. The timesheet for the Classic is open every day until January 1 and bookings can be made as usual through the Pro Shop or online. The cost of entry is €7 for members with a reduced fee for subsequent re entries. The cost for visitors is €15.

Course Conditions: The course took some punishment from the elements over recent days with heavy rainfall across the area.

However it has held up very well and was in very good order for Sundays competition.

Please play your part in caring for the course by repairing pitch marks/ divots and raking bunkers after use. Think of it as a new hobby, ‘Golf Yoga’, with very good stretching which will benefit your game greatly (and everyone else’s too!).

Split the Pot was won by Bill Hurley, Mick Malone and Harry Reinhardt who collected €83.

Seasons Greetings: The very best wishes to all our members, staff, sponsors, visitors and all concerned with New Ross Golf Club. We hope you have a very happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you again soon.
