AFTER NEARLY eight years of working at the front line, as the Office and Events Manager for Wexford Chamber of Commerce, Tracey Morgan is moving to Sheridan Insurances to pursue new career challenges.

Tracey is a well-known face to those in the business community, having been the first point of contact for many, over her years in the Chamber. Having originally joined the staff on a CE Scheme, within 18 months she was promoted to the fulltime position of Office and Events Manager, a role she held until her finishing date earlier this month.

With a Diploma in Financial Services, she will now pursue a new direction in her career as part of the Life and Pensions Financial Service Department in Sheridan Insurance.

Tracey said of her move: ‘ The time is right for change. I worked in the financial services for about eight years before joining the Chamber; when this opportunity came up I jumped at it. I think it’s important to set yourself new challenges.’

She said she had thoroughly enjoyed her time in the Cham- ber, remarking that she had grown both professionally and personally, and had enjoyed building relationships with the Chamber’s 240 members. Her role in the Chamber, she added, had been in an area that she was not au fait with and she had relished the challenge that brought.

‘When I started in the Chamber, I had no experience in event management or public relations and marketing; it was all new to me. But I’m proud of myself for grabbing the opportunities that came to me with both hands.’

Over the years, Tracey took on organisation of events such as the Wexford Chamber Business Awards and the Wexford Chamber Fashion Show: ‘If you’d told me seven years ago that I’d be doing that, I wouldn’t have believed you!’

But she is quick to lay plenty of credit also at the feet of the team around her, saying that she wouldn’t have achieved as much as she did without both her work colleagues in the Chamber and its members, all of whom had been very supportive. She added that she would always look back on her time in the Chamber with fond memories.

After a hectic year, Tracey is now enjoying a few weeks of a break before taking up her new role with Sheridan’s in January.

‘I’m going to enjoy the break but I’m very excited about joining Sheridan’s; it’s a great Wexford company with a great reputation, and I’m looking forward to bringing my skills, experience and knowledge to my new role there.’
