Wexford to get €8m for roads this year
TRANSPORT Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has announced that Wexford is to get €8,176,489 in roads funding under the 2019 National Roads Allocation.
The N11 between Oylegate and Rosslare Harbour is to receive €800,000 while a new access road and link to the N25 at Rosslare Harbour will receive a cash injection of €100,000.
That funding will be allocated as part of primary route major scheme financial support while minor works allocations will see €50,000 allocated to the new roundabout between the N30 and R700 [Knockavilla].
Pavement works will also receive money during the year with €1,500,000 earmarked for phase two of the works being carried out on the N11 between Kileen and Newtown.
Funding of €1,750,000 will be allocated to works at Clonroche on the N30 while pavement strengthening at Mount Elliott, New Ross, is to receive €1,400.
There is also an additional allocation of €815,000 for general pavement renewal works in the county.
Retrofit fencing work in Wexford will receive financial support of €100,000 and local authority support for improvement works is to also receive funding of €100,000.
A further €20,000 is to be injected into pavement scheme site investigation work in the county while under the category maintenance - with regard to national primary routes - an overall allocation of €538,535 has been announced.
This will include ordinary maintenance, route lighting and winter maintenance.
A national secondary route maintenance allocation of €33,054 has also been announced on top of €25,900 local authority maintenance funding.
Public private partnership (PPP) related cost allocations totalling €884,000 were also announced as part of the overall finance package while national secondary route pavement works in the county will be supported by a €60,000 allocation.
