CHRISTMAS DELIVERIES AT WEXFORD GENERAL!

- By ANNA HAYES

THREE BABIES were born in Wexford General Hospital on Christmas Day.

The first baby born in the hospital on the day was Gerry Berry, son of Luke and Kathleen Berry from Clonroche.

Baby Gerry arrived at 11.03 a.m. and weighed 3.86kg. He is the couple’s first child and Kathleen said that their families were greatly looking forward to meeting their new addition.

Gerry was due on December 19 but held out to make a dramatic entrance on Christmas Day.

The second baby born was Cillian Barry, to parents Richard and Aine from Campile. Cillian arrived at 4.42 p.m. and weighed 4.14kg. He is also the couple’s first child and was 11 days overdue when he made his first appearance.

‘It was a very different Christmas Day,’ said Richard, adding that young Cillian was thriving and they were looking forward to getting him home. He added that both he and Aine were teachers, and were originally from Cork, so they were looking forward to getting both of their families together for a delayed celebration of Christmas and to meet the new addition to the family.

The third baby born on Christmas Day arrived shortly after that as Arkady Maslova was born to parents Jelena and Ivor at 5.50 p.m.

Weighing 3.86kg, Arkady is the couple’s second child. They also have a ten-year-old daughter, Ariana. Originally from Latvia, the family lives in The Moyne in Enniscorthy.

Arkady was originally due on December 13 but kept his parents waiting to ensure they would never forget Christmas Day 2018!

Jelena said: ‘He’s doing very well since coming home. He’s sleeping well and his big sister loves him and is helping to look after him.’
