Motorist is fined on the double

-

ELLEN (or Helen) Connors from 73 The Orchard in Enniscorthy was prosecuted on the double for motoring offences dealt with at Gorey District Court.

The 34-year-old mother of four first came to the attention of Garda Trevor McCormack who was on motorway duty on the M11 in Gorey on February 6 last.

He noted that Ms Connors was breaking the 120 km/h limit (fine €150) and that she had a five year old with no safety belt in place with her in the vehicle (fine €150).

A few weeks later on February 20, the same motorist was stopped at a checkpoint by Garda Cathal Burke who noted that she was on the road as a learner permit holder with no qualified driver as passenger. She was again fined €150 for the offence.

Solicitor Lana Doherty offered an apology on behalf of her unemployed client.
