David­stown man is charged with as­sault­ing three women

A David­stown man ap­peared be­fore Judge Ger­ard Haughton last week charged with a vi­cious as­sault on three women at a house in En­nis­cor­thy.

Christo­pher Sharkey (28) of 8 Cloney Park, David­stown, was charged with as­sault caus­ing harm to Emma Fo­ley and also as­sault­ing Marie Busher and Pet­rina Busher at Bal­li­na­hallin, En­nis­cor­thy, on Septem­ber 30 last.

When asked to give a brief out­line of the facts, Sgt Gary Raynor told the court it was al­leged that Sharkey had called to the house at around 4 p.m. on the day in ques­tion. He said, it was al­leged that Sharkey punched the in­jured party in the head, dragged her to the ground and kicked and stamped on her. He said that the two other women had tried to in­ter­vene and were al­legedly as­saulted them­selves and knocked to the ground.

Upon hear­ing this, Judge Ger­ard Haughton agreed to ac­cept ju­ris­dic­tion and hear the case in the Dis­trict Court. So­lic­i­tor Lana Do­herty made a Gary Doyle Or­der to be fur­nished with the ev­i­dence against her client and the case was ad­journed un­til Fe­bru­ary 20.
