Credit Union continues its partnership with Hope and Dream 10
ENNISCORTHY Credit Union is delighted to announce that it has partnered with Hope and Dream 10 for a fifth consecutive year as one of its primary sponsors for the 2019 event.
Hope and Dream 10 has become the biggest event of its kind in the South East, 2018’s event was bigger than ever with 2,259 participants. An amazing €145,120 was raised last year and since 2012 an amazing €974,033 has been raised. This money has made a huge difference to the quality of life for many people experiencing cancer county-wide.
One of the cornerstones on which the credit union is built are a set of 10 operating principles including Open and Voluntary membership, Return of Surplus to Members, service to Members etc.
One of the lesser known of these principles is Social Responsibility. Enniscorthy Credit Union has embarked on this sponsorship as part of its community outreach and social engagement within our common bond/community.
For the most part social engagement within the credit union is seen and exercised through financial inclusion or maybe countering financial exclusion, and financial capability support. Providing suitable products and services such as small loans and low balance savings encourages thriftiness in the community.
We, like all credit unions, exist to serve our members, not to make a profit. Every member counts. This ‘people first – members matter most’ philosophy ensures that our staff and volunteers are committed to our local community and to working to improve our local communities. We are community based, community led, and one of the community’s strongest supporters, through employment and sponsorship.
That is why the decision to get involved in the sponsorship of the Hope and Dream 10 came quite easily to the credit union. This is a great opportunity to support a venture that has helped, and has the potential to help, so many people within our common bond/community.
Enniscorthy Credit Union first partnered with Hope and
Dream 10 in 2014 and has supported this hugely popular event since, by sponsoring €10,000 for the colourful T-shirts each year and we consider it a privilege that we support it again in 2019 on behalf of all our members who stretch from Mount Leinster all the way down to the sea in Rosslare.

It is a very highly regarded local event which we know our members are happy to support. For Enniscorthy Credit Union we see the community needs as part of our needs and we hope that with our support the Hope and Dream 10 can continue to be a major part of the fundraising for the local charities that it supports. We are all aware of the fabulous work being done by the Hope Cancer Support Centre here in Enniscorthy and also acknowledge the unstinting work of the Wexford Hospice Homecare committee both of which are beneficial to our community county-wide.
