Shamrock Rovers are too hot to handle for Bridge

Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers showed no signs of letting their form slip after the Christmas break as they cruised to a 5-1 win over Bridge Rovers on Sunday.

Peter O’Rourke, Ricky Dwyer, Marty Kelly, Kamil Kutkiewicz and Alan Freeman scored for the pacesetter­s, who will put their unbeaten record to the test against champions North End United next weekend.

Shane Hogan got the goal for the Castlebrid­ge side.

Moyne Rangers are also very much in the shake-up and on Sunday they picked up another three points against Forth Celtic.

James Peare and Tomás ‘Mossy’ Mahon scored for the Enniscorth­y outfit as they moved into second spot.

Gorey Rangers fought back from two goals down at the break to earn a 3-2 triumph over Wexford Bohs at Ramstown.

Bohs looked to be on their way to a notable scalp with strikes from Seán Pailing and Dermot Flood giving them a 2-0 buffer, but the hosts had different ideas and stormed back for victory with goals from Jamie Howard, Paul Brennan and Adam Territ.

Paddy Kavanagh was the match-winner for Bunclody as he grabbed the only goal of the game to earn his side a 1-0 triumph away to Courtown Hibs.

Division1

Cloughbawn moved into second place in Division 1 thanks to a 2-0 win over North End United on Sunday. Willie Murphy and Páidí Cullen got the goals for the promotion-hopefuls.

Tombrack fought back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Moyne Rangers, with Jamie Walsh grabbing their equaliser in the 94th minute.

Rory Newe got their earlier goal, while Dayle Donohoe and Joshua O’Byrne hit the back of the net for Moyne.

Division2

Adamstown drew level with Glynn Barntown at the summit of Division 2 after overcoming Rosslare Port 4-2 on Sunday.

Conor Hickey hit a hat-trick and Brandon Sinnott got the other goal for Adamstown, who face fellow high-flyers Glynn Barntown next weekend. Jamie McMahon scored twice for Port.

Ferns United are hot on the heels of the leading pair after eking out a 2-1 win over Killenagh Wanderers with goals from Keith Breen and Jonny Dwyer.

Adam Sinnott and Seamie McLoughlin hit the back of the net for Taghmon United in their 2-0 win over Shelburne.

Division3

St. Joseph’s closed the gap on the top two with a 2-0 win over Duncannon on Sunday. Des Mythen and Callum O’Reilly scored for the Kilmuckrid­ge side.

Noel Roche (two), Eddie Galavan and Mark Butler hit the back of the net for Bree United in their 4-1 win in Bunclody, with Jamie Wilson replying for the hosts.

Division3A

Leaders Forth Celtic had to settle for a share of the spoils on Sunday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Corach Ramblers.

Anthony Hayes and Keith Murphy scored for the Murrintown men, with Gareth McCurtin and Paul Diskin on target for the visitors.

Oylegate United dented Ajax Athletic’s promotion hopes as they ran out 3-2 winners with goals from Tommy O’Rourke, Richard Murphy and Lee Kehoe, with Liam Moore and John Murphy replying for the Rajahs.

Fethard were much too good for Bridge Rovers in the basement battle, finishing 4-1 winners with goals from Graham O’Grady, Joe Sutton, Seán Donohoe and Adam Waters, with Mark Browne scoring for Rovers.

Division4

Camolin Celtic picked up three points on Sunday as they ran out 3-1 winners over Kiltealy in their Division 4 clash.

Peter McSwiney and Glen Carton (two) got the goals for the winners.

Jody Donohoe got on the scoresheet for Curracloe United, with Martin Og Storey replying for The Ballagh in their 1-1 draw, while Crossabeg and Campile United shared the spoils after a 0-0 draw.

Division4A

Cloughbawn leapfrogge­d St. Joseph’s to the top of Division 4A after overcoming their rivals 2-0 on Sunday. Mick McGrath and Eoin Furlong got the goals for the new leaders.

Caim United are just two points off the pace after earning a 2-0 win away to Enniscorth­y Town, with Adam Nagy and Thomas Browne getting their goals. Dylan Groarke (two), Ryan Murphy and Benny Byrne hit the back of the net for Enniscorth­y United in their 4-0 win over Tombrack.

Daniel Furlong and Brandon Cullen scored for Taghmon United in their 5-2 loss to Castledock­rell, with Colin Quigley bagging a hat-trick for the winners and Adam Harte and Shane Mernagh getting a goal apiece.

A Ken Cahill goal earned St. Leonards a 1-1 draw with Rosslare Port, with Adam Pitman grabbing the Port goal.

Division5

Shamrock Rovers lead the way in Division 5 after their 3-1 derby win over Enniscorth­y United on Sunday. Mark Redmond, Kevin Dugdale and Graham Nolan scored for Rovers, with Aidan Canavan replying.

Wexford Bohs are one point behind the leaders with three games in hand after they saw off fellow high-flyers St. Cormac’s 3-1.

Aaron Lambert, Beau Brennan and John Conway scored for Bohs, with Ger Daly hitting the back of the net for the saints.

Elsewhere, Ferns United earned a 2-1 win away to Ajax Athletic, with the hosts scoring through an own goal.
