The festive period was a busy time for the S.B.R. runners.

At the Castletown 10k on St. Stephen’s Day, Paul Lynch was an excellent second overall and Belinda Kehoe had a super run as the third woman home.

Several other S.B.R. runners participat­ed, including Tom Kavanagh, with full results still pending.

At the Streets of Wicklow 5k on St. Stephen’s Day, a number of super fast times were run. Patrick Curley was first S.B.R. man over the line in 23rd in 17:06.

Paul Gibbons ran 17:48 and Eugene Doherty won yet another Over-60 age category with a strong 19:31.

At the Croghan Chase 8k, Myles Gibbons was first S.B.R. man over the line in fifth overall in 28:38.

Patrick Curley was sixth overall in 29:11 and was followed by Niall Gibbons (30:45) in eleventh and David Leonard (30:56) for twelfth.

Tomás Breen (35:01), Ray Byrne (35:20), Brian McLoughlin (50:39) and Tom Kavanagh (53:36) rounded out the S.B.R. men.

Ciara Bowe led the S.B.R. women with a brilliant time of 35:38. Claire Gibbons ran a strong 41:52 as well.

Dara Cloake continued a brilliant stretch of running, finishing first overall in the Croghan Chase 4k in 14:15. Ryan Gleeson (20:36), Orla Furlong (20:42), Darragh Breen (21:13), Mag O’Leary-Doyle (21:26) and Liz Breen (24:45) all ran very well.

S.B.R. will be a running a winter league over six nights, commencing on January 23. We will finalise details and share them closer to the time.
