2018 saw €266m in Wexford house sales
THERE were 1,516 property sales worth €266m in Co Wexford during 2018, according to the Property Price Register (PPR) published last month.
The most valuable one-off sale was that of Ballycomclone House, in Ballymoney, Gorey, which sold for €727,500 in August.
In terms of housing developments the highest value sale in 2018 was the Castle Gardens development in Cooladine, Enniscorthy, which sold for €2,423,182 in July.
A number of other high value one-off sales also took place during the year including Sea La Vie, in Kildermot, Ballymoney, which sold for €655,000 in November, and the sale of a property at Ballyconnigar Upper, Blackwater, in March which changed ownold for €580,000 in March.
In the New Ross area the highest value proper- ty sold was Rivercourt House, in Camblin, which sold for €520,000 in May while in Enniscorthy Westcliff House, on Munster Hill, sold in September for €500,000.
The overall property sales figure, as of December 5, when the PPR was published was down on that of 2017 which saw 1,824 sales taking place.
Commenting on the figures, Angela Keegan, Managing Director with MyHome.ie said uncertainty over Brexit was affecting the market which despite increases early in the year had slowed as the year progressed.
She said that nationally asking prices were up by 9.5 per cent in the first quarter of last year, however, by the end of the third quarter the rate of inflation had slowed to 5.9 per cent.
‘Double or high single-digit inflation is not sustainable so the current trend is positive for the property market as a whole,’ said Ms Keegan.
