OPERATION TRANSFORMA­TION

After the success of the inaugural ‘Ireland Lights Up’ initiative last year the GAA is delighted to be once again teaming up with RTÉ’s Operation Transforma­tion and Get Ireland Walking to make exercise more accessible on dark winter evenings. Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club will participat­e again this year. Everyone is welcome at the club Walking Track on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., beginning on Tuesday, January 15. A register of participan­ts will be taken each evening. Remember the fun we had last year, walking off the Christmas excess, catching up with neighbours and improving our fitness at the same time.

SPLIT – THE – POT

Congratula­tions to the most recent winners of the New Year Special Draw that took place on January 5. The lucky winner of the first prize of €124 was Liam O’Brien while the second prize of €50 went to Phil Higgins and the third prize of €25 was won by Yvonne Hendley. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.

It costs just €2 to play and envelopes can be found in all local businesses: Tim’s Chipper, Caroline’s Hairdressi­ng, Bob’s Bar, Lounge, Shop and Takeaway, The Sawdust, Barry Walsh’s Car Servicing, The Unyoke Cafe, The Trading Post, Angelo’s Takeaway, The post office, The School Office and Bolands XL.

COMMIT TO BE FIT

As the ‘Race to be Mayor’ hots up, the organisers are being most creative, coming up with very interestin­g ideas. Phil Redmonds team have organised Circuit Training, for all levels of fitness, in the Ballagh Community Centre, on Mondays and Thursdays, starting on Monday, January 7, The cost is €5 per night or 12 classes for €50.

TALENT COMPETITIO­N

Martin ‘Sponger’ Fortune’s team held a very entertaini­ng Talent Competitio­n in Marty’s Bar, Oulart on January 12. The winners of that Talent Competitio­n as well as the five winners from Phil’s qualifying round will go forward to the Grand Final that will be held in the Sawdust Pub on Saturday, January 26, at 9.30 p.m.

MAYORAL DATES

Bingo in the Ballagh on Saturday, January 19, at 7.30 p.m. Bingo in Oulart at 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, and on February 10 and 24. Phil’s team will hold a Breakfast Morning in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, February 3. There will be dancing with Declan and the Classic Outlaws on February 15, in Oulart Community Centre. Sponger will hold a Dog Night in Enniscorth­y featuring an All Star Race on February 21. Details to follow soon.

UNDERAGE GAA
