Jobs boost for Enniscorthy as new education business set to be launched
A NEW business that will be launched in County Hall this coming weekend looks set to create as many as 15 new jobs in the county.
Nutty Scientists is a global leader in providing educational programmes to children in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The franchise is being introduced into Ireland for the first time by Wexford business partners, Alan Maher and David Hayes.
The launch will include a free interactive science showcase for children and the young people in attendance will also get to engage and interact with experiments taking place.
Speaking to this newspaper Mr Maher, who runs Maher Consulting in Enniscorthy, said that both he and Mr Hayes feel STEM eduction is vital for the growth and success of children throughout Ireland.
‘We are delighted to bring this global educational franchise to Ireland and we are especially proud to be basing the business here in Wexford,’ he said.
The partners have already created one new full-time job and Mr Maher said that a further seven to eight part-time positions will follow relatively quickly after the launch.
He also said that around 15 new jobs will ultimately be created by the new business.
In addition to having the master franchise for Ireland the business partners also have the country developer contract for the UK market, however, their entire operation will remain based in Co Wexford.
‘It will be based in the enterprise and technology centre on Milehouse Road,’ said Mr Maher.
The official launch of the new business will take place in County Hall, Carricklawn, on Saturday, February 16, at 12 noon.
