-

THOMAS BRENNAN from Shroughmore, Ballindaggin, successfully appealed to Judge Brian O’Shea to be allowed keep his driving licence as a motor insurance conviction was recorded against him at the District Court in Gorey.

The 20-year-old, who draws disability allowance, admitted he had no cover which allowed him drive the Volkswagen Golf in which he was stopped at Milehouse on June 12 last.

His policy at the time covered a Volkswagen Jetta but it was off the road that day.

Solicitor Lana Doherty said that her client attempted to transfer cover but failed to get through on the phone. She added that Brennan was the only driver in his household and that his partner was due to have a baby soon.

A fine of €400 was handed down by Judge O’Shea with six months allowed for payment.
