Public order charge results in 79th conviction
A PRISONER due for release three days later was first brought to the District Court in Wexford to deal with a public order charge.
The court learned how Thomas Kelly, with an address at Doonooney in Adamstown, was arrested by Garda Barry Brennan on June 6 last.
Kelly was discovered by the garda walking in the middle of a road in Barntown, stumbling in front of traffic.
He was arrested for his own safety and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. A record of 78 previous convictions for theft and motoring offences was referred to by the garda. The 79th conviction came with a fine of €100.
After the brief hearing, Kelly was returned to the custody of his prison officer escort.
