Enniscorthy seconds surge past poor Clane

ENNISCORTHY 73 CLANE 0

ENNISCORTHY SECONDS blitzed back into action in the first round of the Towns Cup with an authoritative display against Clane firsts.

Going into the game, Enniscorthy had right to be concerned coming up against an actual first team in round one. This, however, was not the case.

Enniscorthy put on an excellent performance full of cohesive running and support, bolstered by a really strong defensive display to keep the home team scoreless.

In a real squad performance it is tough to single out one individual, but for scrum-half Billy Wickham it was a day to remember as he helped himself to four tries.

Also on the scoresheet were Hughie O’Neill (two), Luke Cummins (two), Adam Gethings, Liam Stamp and Jack Kelly. Enniscorthy converted nine from eleven of the tries, giving the final score of 73-0.

The seconds re-focus on their league campaign against Kilkenny in Ross Road on February 16. They will be hoping for another solid win to keep the pressure on Ashbourne in the Leinster League.

Team: David Shore, Adam Gethings, Ronan Doyle, Hughie O’Neill, Mel Doyle, Jack Kelly, Billy Wickham, Alan Jacob, Luke Cummins, Lee Tracey, Stephen Hadley, Liam Stamp, Conall Kavanagh, Murt Kehoe, B.J. Doyle. Subs. (all used) - Pat Doyle, Fiacre Ryan, Brendan Kearney, Tom Farrar, Mick Farrell.
